- Say Yes to NOS Bar
Say what you want about the south side of West 7th Street. At least Fred’s is there. While you hear about the shiny shops and chef-driven restaurant concepts struggling to stay open, Fred’s is still consistently awesome and busy, a bustling oasis of Fort Worth culture, great grub, and “cold-ass” beer. When the Trinity River Vision’s much ballyhooed Trinity Uptown (or Central City or whatever it’ll be known as) finally opens for business, I hope the NOS Bar gets to be that neighborhood’s version of Fred’s. - Fight for Maddie, Lola’s Food

- Washington Math
The letter from U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison in response to a query was nice, but, um, factually challenged. Problem: Hutchison’s statement that the 1,700-mile behemoth would add 250,000 permanent jobs in this country.
- Storms in New Jerusalem
When Garret Storms auditioned last year for Stage West’s current production of David Ives’ New Jerusalem, his hopes weren’t particularly high. He’d just returned to Fort Worth to live with his family after earning a BFA in musical theater at Sam Houston State University. His resumé of local productions wasn’t long, and his main goal was to introduce himself to North Texas theater companies so they’d keep him in mind whenever good roles came up. So when Stage West’s Peggy Kruger-O’Brien called him back to say they wanted him for the central role in Ives’ play –– the part of the hugely influential 17th-century Jewish philosopher Baruch Spinoza –– he didn’t believe it at first.
